Seventh Day Slumber and their newest album, Take Everything,is what you would want from the hard rock Christian band. Intense guitar riffs with aggressive lyrics. In fact, Seventh Day Slumber has never shied away from talking about deep issues such as drug addition and depression, so fans would expect similar concepts on Take Everything.
However the album tends to sway into the expected. A lot of the tracks, such as“How Great is Our God” and “Mighty to Save” are amazing tunes and the added rock influence is a nice change of pace. But the problem occurs when nearly every track on the album uses a similar approach of crunchier guitars, gruffer vocals, and the occasional solo.
While there is a lot to like about this band and the album, if you are looking for something drastically different and creative from the band you are going to remain disappointed. But if you take the album for what it is, you will enjoy Take Everything.
